CASE

CASE is a comprehensive simulation tool for ring-pack and piston dynamics analysis. It is the result of 20 years of research, development and experimental validation. The software is available for all Linux and Unix based operating systems and features an intuitive and easy to use interface. The program consists of two main modules: Ring and Piston.

Ring is a 3-D ring-pack simulation code. It features gas dynamics, tribology and blowby simulations. The simulation model accounts for circumferential boundary conditions and its outputs include ring and liner wear. Ring has a secondary module named Twist which can be run in conjunction with Ring and simulates 3 dimensional twisting of each piston compression ring.
Piston is a piston dynamics simulation program that includes elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication, piston deformation and tribology. Piston uses parametric input data to auto-generate a FE model. The FE model is used in conjunction with a piston dynamics model to obtain the piston primary and secondary motions and other useful output data.
